The Anti smoking laws have changed many things in public restaurants, bars, and other public venues bringing great change to smoking and its statistics.
Since the anti smoking ban was put in place, one can go to a public restaurant or bar and not have to worry with smoke getting in your eyes, second hand smoke inhalation, and come home with your clothes not having to be washed due to the smoke smell on them. Adults and children who cannot be around smoke due to health issues can be at ease when they go into establishments with no worries of smoke being a problem. Regardless of this, so many bars and eating establishments say that these laws have affected their incomes very negatively.
Air studies have been done at several hotels, restaurants and venues and have proved that the level of dangerous pollutants in the air that was caused due to smoking was reduced by about 85%. One hospital in California conducted a study and found that heart attack casualties dropped approximately 60% after a test was done in the area six months after the smoking ban was put in place.
We may never understand the entire story as to the effects of the smoking ban, but the health advantage has been well proven and even though some think the smoking ban has been a negative issue for smokers, some will always argue that the government has to have the power to safeguard the health of those that do not smoke. In a pub in Ireland, it was tested and proven that there was a 20% drop in workers who had previously had respiratory problems.
